Members of the Public Service took to the streets this week in advance of the celebration of International Women’s Day on Saturday.

Women from both the public and private sector took part in the annual IWD Wellness Walk yesterday and gathered on the Cabinet Office lawn to celebrate women’s empowerment.

A government spokeswoman said: “This year’s theme is #AccelerateAction, and for the first time, today’s walk, welcomed members of Bermuda’s International Women’s Day Committee, led by its chair, Juanae Crockwell.”

Cherie Whitter, the Head of the Public Service, said the emphasis is on wellness this year, and signified that the walk was an important step towards encouraging women in the Public Service to prioritise overall health and wellbeing.

“As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it is inspiring to see our Public Service women come together for this wellness walk,” she said.

“This event marks the beginning of our 2025 wellness activities themed ‘Journey to Wellness’. As an employer we are committed to fostering a healthy, supportive environment for all.

“We challenge the women of the Public Service to take proactive steps towards a healthier lifestyle, which includes physical, mental and emotional health. Let’s accelerate action towards a healthier future together as we work to enhance the lives to the people of Bermuda.”

Additional IWD events will take place tomorrow with the Government hosting a wellness fair between 11am and 3pm at Pier Six.
