‘Beyond the mind’ forum to look into mental health

A rehabilitation facility in Pembroke that helps people with mental health disorders will host a panel this month to explore the issue from diverse perspectives.

The event on March 17, which will run from 5pm to 8pm in the hall at St John’s Church in Pembroke, is to be hosted by Dignity House as part of its third anniversary.

Panellists at the free forum, “Beyond the Mind“, include Alexis Swan, Chardonae Rawlins, Kuni Frith and Karen Grant-Simmons.

Dr Swan will speak on the topic “Energetic DNA: using integrative approaches for mental health”, and Dr Frith will speak on complementary alternative medicine in mental health.

Ms Rawlins will speak on the issue of social media and youth mental health, while Dr Grant-Simmons is to address mental health interventions.

Dignity House said the event would allow for “open dialogue, holistic healing and community connection”.

It said the milestone event “will uncover new ways to nurture wellbeing through expert talks and shared experiences”.

Kim and Nicholas Darceuil launched Dignity House in March 2022 to provide dual treatment to people suffering from substance abuse and mental health conditions.

The facility in Bluff Lane, Pembroke runs its programme over a three to 12-month period, although it can be extended depending on the volume of support needed.
