Women leaders and entrepreneurs will represent Bermuda in Dubai next week.

A government spokeswoman said the International Woman Leadership Conference would expand on knowledge gained during the United Nations Women Build Back Equal programme.

The campaign, funded by the UN Joint Social Development Goals Fund, aimed to tackle challenges entrepreneurs face in accessing financial support and ran between 2022 and 2024.

It was implemented by the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors and Bermuda Economic Development Corporation.

The spokeswoman said: “The conference will feature high-impact panel discussions on topics that align with the Building Back Equal programme's objectives, including innovative financing for women-led businesses, leadership strategies for economic sustainability, bridging the gender gap in technology and the role of women in driving sustainable economic growth.”

Tinée Furbert, the Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors and 13 other women will represent Bermuda at the event from March 19 to 21.

Ms Furbert, who will speak during the opening session on March 20, explained: “This delegation represents our commitment to ensuring Bermudian women have every opportunity to lead, innovate and prosper.

“I look forward to returning with renewed strategies and connections that will further strengthen our island's approach to gender equality and women's economic empowerment.”

Attendees will share their experience next month and summit organiser, Nigerian businesswoman Ibukun Awosika, will lead the second Mary Prince Women’s Entrepreneurial and Leadership conference in Bermuda from August 6 to 8.
