Watch: Wells scores again as Bristol City beat West Brom

Nahki Wells celebrates his tenth goal of the season against West Bromwich Albion

Nahki Wells scored his second goal in four days as Bristol City solidified their promotion chances with a 2-1 victory at home to West Bromwich Albion.

Wells gave City the lead with a fantastic curling effort from outside the box in the 56th minute before Alex Mowatt replied six minutes later for West Brom, who then had Jayson Molumby sent off in the 89th minute with the score at 1-1.

In the sixth minute of added time, Haydon Roberts scored the winner to spark scenes of jubilation at Ashton Gate as City moved up into fifth position in the Sky Bet Championship with just five games to play.

After scoring his tenth goal of the season, Wells took to social media to express his delight at the performance.

“Just reflecting on tonight’s game,” Wells said. “It was an amazing result. Thank you for your support and we go again on Saturday.”

The Bermudian forward, who is out of contract in the summer, is likely to be leading the line against one of his former clubs on Saturday, with City travelling to London to take on Queens Park Rangers.

Wells spent just over a year on loan at QPR from August 2018 to January 2020, scoring 20 league goals in 66 appearances before being sold by parent club Burnley to Bristol City for £5 million.

After QPR, City’s final four matches include home games against Sunderland and Preston North End, and trips to Luton Town and promotion-chasing Leeds United.
