Traffic restrictions for Ag Show as well as weekend race
The Ministry of Public Works has announced traffic restrictions for a road race this weekend, and for the annual Ag Show later this month.
A spokesman said the RenaissanceRe five-mile and ten-mile races on Sunday will start and finish on South Road, from 7.30am to 11am.
Athletes will depart from the south gate of the Botanical Gardens in Paget and head east along South Road.
Participants in the ten-mile race will continue to the turnaround at Paynter’s Road and return to the finish line at the Lagoon property opposite the Botanical Gardens.
Participants in the five-mile race will turn around at the west car park entrance of Spittal Pond, finishing at the Lagoon property.
There will be no road closures and police and race marshals will direct traffic.
Motorists were urged to exercise caution.
Questions can be directed to Ciaran Keaveny on 517-3951 or Jenni Simpson on 538-2284.
The ministry also announced traffic arrangements for the hosting of the Agricultural Exhibition from April 24 to April 26.
There will be unrestricted traffic flow in the vicinity of the Botanical Gardens on South Road and Point Finger Road. Berry Hill Road, between Point Finger Road and Crow Lane, will have two-way traffic.
Traffic will flow only east on Berry Hill Road between the junction of Camden North and Tee Street.
The ministry said authorised licence plates travelling to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital would have free access on Berry Hill Road.
No parking will be allowed alongside South Road, Tee Street and Point Finger Road.
Parking for vehicles assigned to the physically challenged will be designated on the south side of Berry Hill Road, west of the north gate of the Botanical Gardens. Vehicles must display a parking badge.
The restrictions will run from 8am to 7pm on each day.
The ministry encouraged the public to co-operate with road marshals and apologised for any inconvenience.
