SiriusPoint backs new US casualty programme
Specialty insurer and reinsurer SiriusPoint has partnered with Irwin Siegel Agency, a New York managing general underwriter, to launch a new casualty and excess insurance programme targeting human and social services providers.
SiriusPoint will provide paper for the programme, which will be distributed exclusively through the wholesale market. It marks the latest in a series of initiatives by the Bermudian-headquartered firm to deepen its presence in niche sectors via managing general agent partnerships.
The programme will offer coverage to a broad range of organisations including shelters, job training centres, outreach services and community agencies.
Patrick Charles, head of North America Insurance at SiriusPoint, said: “The launch of a new Casualty and Excess programme will not only deliver innovative insurance and risk management solutions to a gap in the market but will fill a distinct need in the human and social services space.”
Irwin Siegel Agency, a Ryan Specialty company, has been underwriting human and social service risks for nearly six decades and specialises in mental health, youth services and disability organisations.
Shawn Yingling, chief executive of Ryan Specialty National programmes, said SiriusPoint was a natural partner: “They have a notable reputation for individualised support in the MGA space, providing specialist expertise and paper to service niche sectors.
“This initiative will enhance our ability to remain focused on our primary goal – to provide innovative insurance and risk management solutions to those serving our society’s most vulnerable.”
SiriusPoint, which was formed in 2021 following the merger of Third Point Re and Sirius International, continues to grow its programme business in North America while maintaining a substantial presence in the Bermuda reinsurance market.
