The Bermuda Optimist Dinghy Association national squad have left the island to compete in Slovenia.

Thomas McBain, Harry and Emma Brown, Heath Myers, Jesse Savage, Miguel Liete, Rex Henagulph, Walker Smith, Benjamin DeCouto and Sean Pedro will sail in the Easter Point Regatta in Pirat from April 17 to 20.

The team will be accompanied by national coach Pablo Weber and his assistant Josh Greenslade, from the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.

The team heading to Slovenia includes five sailors ― McBain, the Brown siblings Brown, Myers and Savage ― who qualified to represent Bermuda at the World Championships through a series of races held at RBYC in February and March.

The Slovenia regatta, which is in its 31st year and usually features more than 500 sailors, will serve as good preparation for the 2025 World Optimist Championships, which takes place at the same venue in June.
