Kalen Brunson will continue his football development at Queens Park Rangers for at least another two years.

The Bermuda Under-17 winger recently signed a two-year scholarship with the Sky Bet Championship outfit after impressing the coaching staff during a trial last December and making steady progress playing with their under-21 team since.

“Dreams do come true,” Brunson said. “Just knowing that I have accomplished the first step to becoming a pro feels good.

“I play with the under-21s and train with the men. It’s intense but has been a good experience. The transition has been good and I am enjoying it.”

The 15-year-old, who joined QPR from Beechwood School’s Elite Football Academy, was among Bermuda’s standout performers during the Concacaf Men’s Under-17 Qualifier, scoring a hat-trick in the Gombey Warriors’ 5-0 demolition of the Turks & Caicos Islands at Flora Duffy Stadium in February.

Brunson is following in the footsteps of Dashun Cooper, who is a goalkeeper coach with QPR’s academy, and Bristol City striker Nahki Wells, who had two loan spells with the West London club.

He is also one of two Bermudians to have recently joined professional clubs from the Beechwood Schools Elite Football Programme after Nayan Grant was signed by League Two side Gillingham this month.
