Repeat DUI offender banned for five years
A serial drink-driver who crashed his car while almost three times over the limit was banned from the roads for five years yesterday.
Cameron Joseph, 27, who has two previous convictions for similar offences, pleaded guilty to the drink driving charge.
The court heard that Joseph, from Southampton, was arrested after he crashed his car into a wall on Somerset Road, in Sandys, at about 6pm on August 17. A breath test showed that he had 239 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80/100.
The court was told that the latest offence was Joseph’s third.
Magistrate Maxanne Anderson told Joseph that he was a “danger”.
Ms Anderson suspended a $5,000 fine and remanded Joseph in custody to appear in Drug Treatment Court next Tuesday.
