Group focuses on the elderly
elderly with the formation of a new association.
Lefroy House, the Government home, in Ireland Island, has established the Friends of Lefroy House Association to provide family and relatives with more information about aging and to raise funds for social and rehabilitative programmes.
A spokesperson said: "As a result of the growing senior citizen population the committee will endeavour to assist families of Lefroy residents and contribute to the operation of the facility''.
At the first election of officers recently Mrs. Myra Bristol was voted chairman, Mrs. Cornelia Simmons was chosen as vice-chairman, Cmdr. Robin Bawtree became treasurer, and Mr. Terry Tucker was voted in as secretary.
Mrs. Francis Rochester, Mr. Gregory Belboda, Mrs. Joan Gooden and Mrs. Merle Sheen were elected members-at-large and two representatives from the staff will serve on the executive committee.
