Darin (Nature) Dowling and Rodre (Piper) Wilson both hit the taget at Somerset Cricket Club on Wednesday night to inspire unbeaten Somerset Eagles to a 2-0 win over Ireland Rangers.

Eagles' most recent win, their fourth of the season, catapulted them into third spot in the First Division standings behind leaders St.George's Colts and second-placed St.David's Warriors who each have 15 points from six matches.

Wilson got the ball rolling for Eagles in spectacular fashion when he fired into the roof of the net on the turn to emphatically punctuate a brilliant build-up down the left-side involving Trinidadian Marlon Rojas and Adolphus Lambert.

Dowling, who took his individual goal tally to six, then put the match beyond Rangers reach minutes before the half when he converted from the penalty spot after being brought down in the box on a breakaway by 'keeper Ricky Tucker.

The White Hill club are the sole remaining unbeaten team in the First Division and the three goals they have conceded this season are only second to East End rivals St.George's who have conceded one less.

Wednesday night's Eagles and Rangers' clash was the continuation of the first encounter between the two sides that was abandoned at White Hill October 12 after Rangers forward Andre Outerbridge and Eagles goalkeeper Gabriel Wilkinson collided.

The accident resulted in Wilkinson being airlifted to Lahey Clinic in Boston with serious head injuries. According to family members, the goalkeeper is now said to be making a "steady recovery" from his injuries.

Meanwhile, in the second match of Wednesday night's double-header in the West End, hosts Somerset Trojans and Prospect United played to a 1-1 stalemate.
