National team player Treadwell Gibbons, who has been unable to play for St George’s this season because of weekend work commitments, lifted West XI off the foot of the Evening Cricket League’s Premier League standings with his second consecutive half-century.

Gibbons, 33, followed up his unbeaten 72 against BCB Academy by smashing 67 not out as West XI dented The Associates’ title hopes, easing to an eight-wicket victory with two balls to spare at Shelly Bay.

Mike Penrose, who made 42, helped guide The Associates to 129 for eight as Dennis Cherry and Eugene Foggo picked up three wickets apiece before left-hander Gibbons guided his side home.

With defending champions Tuff Dogs out of action, Renegades moved to the top of the table on net run rate, but from a game more.

Ian Esteruysen hammered an unbeaten 55 and Ryan Miller 38 not out as their side cruised to a ten-wicket win over Fine Leg Byes with 43 balls to spare.

In the First Division, CV Chargers made it six successive wins after opener Piers Carr powered his side to 152 for two with an unbeaten 95 against Deloitte, who went down by 32 runs.

PHC moved up to second place with a seven-wicket win over Bad Byes.
