Dear Sir,

Please explain why you included an opinion on homophobia that depicted white people in the United States. Brilliant headline from yourself: “The white supremacist role in modern homophobia”.

The only thing that has to do with Bermuda is that it is good propaganda for the Progressive Labour Party. The people, especially the people who followed Jason Hayward and Chris Famous to defeat the police — and democracy — will see the picture and the headline and confirm their prejudices, as you know.

In Bermuda, the great majority of the “base” of the PLP is against same-sex marriage. Interestingly buried at the foot of Page 1 is the reality: that the Government is prepared to pay — waste — taxpayers’ money to the tune of $3 million to fight for its bigotry.

Most of the white people I know are prepared to “live and let live”, and the majority of people who turned up when Renée Webb first tried to drag Bermuda into the 21st century were white.

Please, Mr Editor, get on the right side of history.
