Alert issued for missing Cuban cargo ship

The car ship Chijin is scheduled to arrive on Sunday carrying 123 cars for Bermuda and 63 packets of equipment. She is sailing from Haiti and will continue on to Nassau in the Bahamas.

And the Danish-flagged newsprint ship Medallion , coming from New Brunswick, Canada, is anticipated to arrive before Saturday. She is carrying 350 tons of newsprint for local newspapers.

Container Ship Management reported the arrival of the Oleander on Sunday, carrying 122 dry containers, 35 of which were refrigerated, a 40-foot container, two 40-foot mafis and one car. She sailed on Tuesday.

Meyer Agencies reported the Sunday arrival of the Somers Isles carrying 97 containers, including nine refrigerated, three boats, five underground fuel tanks for Shell, one "superstacker'' (a large container for machinery), 21 bundles of lumber, an ambulance for King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and six bundles of steel. She set sail for Fernandina Beach, Florida on Monday.

The Bermuda Islanders arrived a day early on Monday afternoon from Salem, New Jersey, carrying a load of 96 containers, including eight refrigerated containers and a trailer. She sailed Tuesday.

And the Greek motor tanker Syra called in St. George's yesterday morning to pick up six technicians and sailed the same morning.
