Appleby announces promotions
John Wasty of offshore law firm Appleby’s Bermuda office has been named co-head of the firm’s dispute resolution global practice group.
Mr Wasty will share responsibilities with Mark Holligan of the firm’s Isle of Man office.
Admitted in six jurisdictions, Mr Wasty specialises in the areas of commercial litigation, restructuring, insolvency litigation, funds litigation and regulatory matters, the firm said. He represents clients in a variety of commercial disputes internationally, including many complex multi-party restructurings involving multiple jurisdictions and is frequently involved in major arbitrations.
Mr Wasty, the firm said, has been consistently recognised by Chambers as a leader in his field, ranked Band 1 and described by clients as “one of the best litigators around, providing excellent technical yet business-savvy legal advice”.
The announcement was among 12 senior promotions across the firm’s Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Isle of Man and Jersey offices.
In Bermuda, Steven White of the firm’s dispute resolution team was promoted to partner, while Tiffany Boys and Matthew Carr of the firm’s corporate team were promoted to counsel, as was Hannah Tildesley of the firm’s dispute resolution team. The promotions of Mr White and Ms Tildesley are subject to approval by the Department of Immigration and the Bermuda Bar Association, the firm said.
