Shares of Butterfield Bank were up 61 cents, or 1.54 per cent, to $40.26 on the New York Stock Exchange.

There was no trading on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index, which was unchanged at 2,390.53. The BSX Insurance Index was down 1.23 points, or 0.12 per cent, at 1,553.88.

Separately, Butterfield Bank repurchased 340,000 of its common shares for treasury, at an average price of $36.89 per share, during April.
