Palm Sunday Walk to feature magnificent scenery in Southampton

The Bermuda National Trust is inviting the public to take part in their annual Palm Sunday walk this weekend.The walk, which begins at White Hill Field in Sandys between 1.15pm and 2.45pm, will take people through the Port Royal Golf Course, Morgan’s Point, the Vesey Nature Reserve and Buck Island.The route will also take the public past Tom Wadson’s farm, where John Barritt & Son Ltd will provide refreshments.A spokeswoman said: “As usual, a handout will be provided as a guide to unique and interesting features along the way and to point out areas of historic interest such as Whale Bay Battery and Buckingham.“This year’s route transverses the breadth of the Island from the Little Sound to South Shore and back again.“The walk will take participants to places that the public rarely get to explore and provide magnificent scenery, like that of the rural coastline and greenery of the world famous Port Royal Golf Course and the panoramic vistas from Alton Hill.”The walk, sponsored by Argus, is around seven miles long, and organisers estimate that it should take around 2.5 hours to complete.This year’s route will not be suitable for dogs or strollers, and all walkers are advised to wear sensible shoes. Drivers are also advised to be careful as walkers will be on the road throughout the afternoon.Useful website: www.bnt.bm.
