LOM shares surge 10% on BSX
Shares of LOM Financial Ltd gained 10 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading on Thursday, while more than $1.1 million worth of Butterfield Bank shares also changed hands.
The BSX was closed yesterday for the Good Friday holiday.
LOM, the investment firm, gained 25 cents to close on $2.75 as 15,000 shares changed hands.
A total of 30,000 Butterfield Bank shares traded. The bank’s share price was unchanged on $36.75.
On the New York Stock Exchange, Butterfield’s US-listed shares closed on Thursday at $36.90, after falling 46 cents, or 1.23 per cent, on the day.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 1.54 points, or 0.07 per cent, to close on 2,233.13. BSX trading volume totalled 45,000 shares and turnover topped $1.14 million.
For the holiday-shortened trading week, the index gained 1.75 per cent, driven by gains for four stocks, Butterfield, BF&M, Ascendant Group and LOM, while no stocks fell.
On Thursday, the BSX Insurance Index added 7.02 points, or 0.47 per cent, to close on 1,502.77.
