Woman discharged after assault on husband
A 59-year-old woman who hit her husband with a tyre iron was shown mercy by a magistrate yesterday.
Jill Trott was given a conditional discharge after she admitted an attack on estranged husband Raymour Trott.
The court heard that the couple had split up and Mr Trott had left the marital home in Warwick, but Trott later found Mr Trott in the bedroom of the house and hit him with the tool.
Mr Trott suffered bruises to his arms.
He left the house and later reported the incident to police.
The attacked happened on May 31 last year.
Trott was arrested and charged with assault with intent to cause bodily harm.
Jonathan White, Trott’s defence lawyer, said the incident was the result of an “acrimonious matrimonial proceeding”.
Magistrate Maxanne Anderson gave Trott a 12-month conditional discharge.
But she warned the defendant that if she offended again, she could be sentenced for the offence at a later date.
