Hamilton hosts its first drive-in movie night on Easter Saturday, April 20.

The series, Fresh Air Films, is free to the public, and will be held on the top floor of Bull’s Head Car Park.

Allison Tucker, the city’s senior events and marketing coordinator, said the series would bring a double header of “popular and current blockbusters to the big screen for the public to enjoy”

Outdoor movies have proved a success with families in the past, using Queen Elizabeth Park, but Ms Tucker said the city wanted to go further this year.

She added: “It’s a holiday weekend, so we’re hoping people come out and take advantage of this free event that will serve to enhance the family-oriented Easter holiday weekend.”

The night opens at 5.30pm with the Disney film Ralph Breaks the internet followed at 8pm by a screening of DC Comics’ Aquaman.

Vendors including Ashley’s Lemonade, Hot Dog Delight, J & B’s Woodfire Pizza, and Twilight Entertainment will all be on hand to keep the audience plied with their favourite movie-going snacks and beverages.

Ms. Tucker added, “We’re really looking forward to a great turnout as we offer this free, family event under the stars.”

For those who wish to bring their own chair and sit back and enjoy the shows there will be an allocated viewing space for non-drivers.

Parking spaces are limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. The public is encouraged to come early to get a good spot.

Parking attendants and security will be on site as well as a bathroom trailer.

Motorists entering the car park must still pull a ticket to access the car park but exit barriers will be raised before the first screening ends so that no parking payment is necessary for moviegoers.

Motorists are advised that maximum clearance for accessing the higher floors in Bull’s Head is 6ft 4in.
