A woman has died after she fell ill on a flight from Barbados to the United States.

The flight was diverted to Bermuda yesterday.

The 63-year-old was on a JetBlue flight to New York when she became unresponsive in the early hours.

The plane made an emergency diversion at LF Wade International Airport at 12.55am.

The woman, who has not been named, was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but later was pronounced dead by medics.

The JetBlue flight resumed its journey to New York later yesterday.
