US coach delivers presentation to parents
The Bermuda Football Coaches Association hosted an information presentation featuring Jon Moody, a coach from Black Rock FC in Connecticut, at CedarBridge Academy last weekend.
Moody spoke to parents and players about the benefits and opportunities available for student-athletes to attend prep school programmes in New England.
Black Rock FC partners with more than 35 boarding schools, helping to identify prospective students, and provides year-round development and college recruitment for players.
The club have established their own residential programme at the Williston Northampton School and will be expanding to High Mowing School in New Hampshire this year.
Moody has worked with Bermudian players Zeiko Lewis, Justin Donawa and Ahria Simons during his previous tenure as the head coach at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Massachusetts.
Lewis, who recently signed for Charleston Battery in the United Soccer League Championship side, was recruited to Boston College, while Donawa and Simons both went on to attend Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.
Lewis and Donawa were both drafted by Major League Soccer sides New York Red Bulls and Columbus Crew, respectively, after graduating from college.
Attendees were able to listen to parents whose children are presently participating with Black Rock FC while enrolled at their prep schools.
They were also able to hear from Donawa on his experiences, and the positive impact of attending Berkshire School and being part of the Black Rock FC programme.
Moody attended National Academy training sessions last night to view the player pool.
