Shares of Butterfield Bank gained 1.4 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank added 50 cents to close on $35 as 1,572 shares changed hands. Butterfield’s US-listed shares advanced 29 cents, or 0.82 per cent to close at $35.67 on the New York Stock Exchange.

The only other stock to trade on the BSX was One Communications, which remained on $3 as 500 shares traded.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index climbed 22.49 points, or 1.04 per cent, to close on 2,185.19.

Trading volume totalled 2,072 shares and turnover was $56,510.

The BSX Insurance Index added 6.14 points, or 0.4 per cent, to close on 1,554.56.
