Man hit by car still in hospital

A man hit by a car on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish almost two weeks ago was still in hospital yesterday.

The 62-year-old was injured near the junction of Trinity Church Road on January 17.

A police spokesman said the man was in stable condition in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit.

A 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving in connection with the incident.

Police also urged motorists not to drink and drive this weekend.

The spokesman said: “While there are no road sobriety checkpoints scheduled for this coming weekend, members of the public are urged not to drive or ride under the influence as police officers conducting their regular patrols will be on the lookout for any offences, including impaired driving.”

One motorist was arrested last weekend on suspicion of drink driving.
