Butterfield Bank shares gained 2.2 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.

The bank gained 75 cents to close on $34.50 as 146 shares traded.

Butterfield’s US-listed shares advanced 18 cents, or 0.53 per cent, to close on $34.35 in New York.

Ascendant Group remained unchanged on $16.75 as 8,300 shares changed hands.

Insurer Argus Group was also unchanged on $3.25 as 2,000 of its shares were exchanged.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 33.73 points, or 1.62 per cent to close the day on 2,113.87. Trading volume totalled 10,446 shares, while turnover was $150,562.

The BSX Insurance Index gained 11.7 points, or 0.77 per cent to close on 1,531.02.
