Ascendant shares leap 8.2% on BSX

Shares of Ascendant Group Ltd jumped 8.2 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.
The parent company of power utility Belco gained $2.50 on the trading of 2,000 shares.
Ascendant was the only domestic-board issuer to trade, as The Royal Gazette/BSX Index added 24.11 points, or 1.33 per cent, to close on 1,834.79.
Among international companies with a BSX listing, HSBC Holdings climbed five cents, or 1.08 per cent, to close on $4.65, as 4,451 shares changed hands.
The US-listed shares of Butterfield Bank fell 93 cents, or 3.93 per cent, to close on $22.76 on the New York Stock Exchange, as 217,671 shares were traded. Butterfield last traded at $24.50 on the BSX.
The BSX Insurance Index slid 32.21 points, or 2.33 per cent, to close on 1,350.96.
