Temperamental Dandy Town striker Antwan Russell has had a multiple-year ban from Somerset Cricket Club lifted.

It was learned yesterday that Western Stars Sports Club (WSSC) successfully appealed against Russell's ban, clearing the way for the promising player to take part in Hornets' opening Dudley Eve clash with Devonshire Cougars in the West End last night.

Russell landed himself in hot water with Somerset officials for allegedly trying to gain entry to a football match at Somerset Cricket Club posing as a player when his name had not been included on the official team registration form.

Only last October former PHC man Russell, had trials with US indoor club Baltimore Blast.

Hornets, who beat Boulevard Blazers 4-2 at the weekend, have had their ranks bolstered for the Christmas holidays by the return from studies abroad of goalkeeper Daniel Johnson, midfielder Seion Darrell and defender Antonio Lowe.

Blazers have also solidified their ranks with college kids Jaqi Simons and Antonio Davis back in the fold. Veteran midfielder Chae Simmons is also expected to suit up for Boulevard in the Dudley Eve competition.

Blazers play PHC Zebras in their opening Dudley Eve clash at Police Field on Sunday.

PHC also stand to benefit from reinforcements as college kids Marquel Waldron, Robert Richardson and Jason Smith could figure in their team's Dudley Eve bid.

Zebras coach Kyle Lightbourne will be off Island for Sunday's match, leaving coaching duties to be shared between newly-appointed assistant Otis Steede and senior members Omar Shakir and Kevin Richards.

Steede retired from top flight football at the end of last season following a playing stint with Hornets and now plays for PHC Raiders in the Commercial Division.

Lee Holder (left) was elected as first vice-president of Bermuda Football Association (BFA) during the association's special congress meeting held earlier this week.

Holder, who ran unopposed, has now filled the position vacated by Cal Blankendal who resigned following last September's BFA AGM.

Blankendal defeated Holder at the polls in 2006 to become first-vice president after the previous encumbent Chris Furbert resigned.
