Care Learning to hold tag day on Thursday
Care Learning Centre, the alternative school for senior school and young adult students, is holding its 18th annual tag day this Thursday.
The Thanksgiving fundraiser will support the school’s scholarship fund.
The theme for the day will be “thank you for caring”, a school statement said, with volunteers and students posted around Hamilton.
Care is celebrating 35 years this month of education services to the community.
Based on Mount Hill, Pembroke, the school offers day and evening classes for non-traditional students to overcome both academic and social challenges and obtain their high school diplomas.
Neletha Butterfield, the programme director, reported “tremendous progress” this year, with several of the latest graduates obtaining honours towards credits for college or university enrolment.
Ms Butterfield called for the community’s support through difficult economic times, adding: “We cannot always build the future of our young, but we can build our youth for the future.”
Part of the proceeds will help students in need to take their GED tests at the Bermuda College.
Donations can also be made to Butterfield Bank at the Care Computer Services account 2000-6060-220230-100.
Cheques are accepted by post at Care Learning Centre, PO Box HM 2806, Hamilton HM LX.
