Parliament back to business today
Parliament opens for business today after the Christmas and New Year break, with three items of legislation coming from the Bermuda Government.
The Medical Practitioners Act, the Electricity 2016 Act and the Banking Special Resolution Act 2016 are to be brought before MPs.
It marks a special occasion for the Progressive Labour Party ranks, as the newly elected Opposition MP Diallo Rabain takes his seat for Devonshire North Central.
The Royal Gazette understands that the Budget for the 2016/17 fiscal year, a major item on the parliamentary calendar, is to be brought before the House of Assembly one week from today.
The resumption of Parliament also comes after a PLP meeting on Monday evening, part of which concerned an internal split over the leadership of Marc Bean.
