Their opening goal came in the first half when Ellen Charnley slipped the ball past the Cardinals' 'keeper. Bluebirds increased their lead in the second period when Louise Bussey netted after a pass from Deanna Didyk.

Cardinals played an attacking game in a bid to get back into the match but good defending by Bluebirds ensured the score remained at 2-0.

Bluebirds A 1 Cardinals A 0 The match was goalless at half-time, but Ellen Charnley broke the deadlock via a deflection after Sarah Maltby's initial shot on goal.

Swifts B 1 Canaries B 1 Swifts, struck down with injuries, took a while to settle into the game.

Canaries started the better and put pressure on Swifts' goalkeeper early on, forcing her into an excellent save.

Swifts then came more into the match and were rewarded for their endeavours when Fiona Lee laid on a perfect ball for Kristan Law to open the scoring.

They were unlucky not to net a second in the 40th minute when a shot from Lorraine Scull hit the post. But it was Canaries who scored next, salvaging a point when Lesley Page equalised.

Swifts A 0 Canaries A 3 With most of their players having played a `B' game, a tired Swifts took to the field and did well to prevent Canaries from scoring until the 28th minute.

Emma Simmons gave Canaries the lead and then scored a second a few minutes later after a great solo run down the wing.

The second half saw some great defensive play from Swifts.

Canaries did manage one more goal, however, Lisa DeSilva passing the ball across the circle for Rhonda Rawlins to place into the back of the net.

Orioles B 1 Swallows B 0 Both sides had chances in a game that ran from end to end.

Orioles netted the deciding goal in the first half when Zina Jones took advantage of some confusion in defence.

Swallows played a more attacking game in the second half and thought they had equalised from a `goal' by Krista O'Donnelly but the effort was disallowed.

Swallows have a chance to avenge the loss when they take on Orioles again this weekend in a make-up match.

Men's League Wasps 0 Rebels 0 Rebels fielded a short-handed squad and defended well against an attacking Wasps side with Simon Farrington leading the attack.

An injury was to force him out of the game later on.

Wasps lost a further player in the second half and fielded a kicking back, but neither side could establish a breakthrough.

Upstarts 1 Police 1 Police took the lead in the first half after a great shot from the edge of the circle. The scores were levelled through Uprichard's bullet shot in the second period.

Chameleons beat BCS Panthers by default after the latter were unable to field a team.

KARTING KRT Action proved to be fast and furious during Bermuda Karting Club's race programme at Southside on Sunday, indicating that the pace of the new track had not slowed down many of the drivers.

In Junior Comer racing, Clayton Harshaw dominated with Ryan DeSilva taking over second place from Natasha Camara who came home third. Newcomer Adam Correia did well to score 30 points for the day.

In the Can Class, Stewart Ball widened the gap at the top of the tables by taking a firm 17-point lead, moving above former leader Brandon Frank who now holds down second place. Ball finished with two firsts and a second.

The fight for second place heated up with Ryan Lindo offering Frank a challenge, Lindo finishing with a first and two seconds.

In the Yamaha Light Class, Michael DeSilva maintained his comfortable 47 point lead over second placed Justin Morley with the latter enduring a tough day.

Morley had to go into the pits on three tyres and also lost first place in the second heat because he was under weight. Michael DeCosta took third.

Shifter A action saw Jason North hold onto his 20-point lead, brushing off second place John Carreiro who now has a whopping 173 point lead over third place David Brewster.

Shannon Caisey closed the gap on leader Michael Corrado in the Shifter B division with Scott Viera holding down third.

In the Open division, Andrew DeCosta leads by 38 points over Aaron DeShields.

David Barbosa is third even though he didn't race on Sunday.

Andy Stoneham, a veteran to the sport but a newcomer to the track, finished the day with two firsts and a second.

SAILING SLG After two consecutive weeks of race cancellations, 21 boats were finally able to answer the gun for the Laser Frostbite Series on Sunday.

With generally mild conditions -- compared to the gales of recent weekends -- racing was no less exciting, with skippers tested by shifting easterly breezes, making for tactically demanding racing.

Malcolm Smith won the day on the tails of four victories, beating out Christian Luthi, who had three wins, via the tie-break system.

Similarly, third place was also sorted out using the system that rewards the sailor with the highest placing. Brett Wright came out ahead of Todd Olson, the former's two wins besting a sole triumph by the latter.

TENNIS TEN The Elbow Beach junior tennis tournament, postponed because of bad weather at the end of last month, has been rescheduled for next week.

The all-doubles event will start on Monday, February 12, and run through until Wednesday, February 14.

The early rounds are likely to be split between Elbow Beach and the Tennis Stadium.

Any juniors who entered the tournament who are unavailable for next week are asked to call Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association on 296-0834 by this Saturday.
