Leslie was upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane this morning.

The meandering storm is not predicted to threaten the island, although rough seas mean a small craft warning remains in effect.

Strong winds today are forecast to gradually ease by tomorrow night, according to the Bermuda Weather Service.

At 6am today, Leslie was 500 miles east of Bermuda and was stationary, with winds of 75mph gusting to 92mph.

Its closest point of approach in the next 72 hours was predicted to be 450 miles east of the island tomorrow morning.
