Fitness equipment installed at Mullet Bay
New fitness equipment has been installed at Mullet Bay Park in St George’s in honour of the parish’s victory in the 50 Million Steps Challenge.
The competition, held last year, challenged teams from each parish to record the highest number of steps over a two-month period.
The St George’s Steppers claimed victory in the competition, with the prize being outdoor gym equipment to be installed in a park in the parish for the public to use.
Government has separately pledged to install equipment in public parks around the island.
Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, Minister of Public Works, said in March a “13-person CrossFit rig” would be installed at the Arboretum in Devonshire.
He added that equipment to be installed at Warwick Long Bay and Death Valley in Southampton had still to be selected.
Colonel Burch said that Government was also exploring the introduction of equipment for the disabled in at least one location.
