Dismont joins husband as member of the Bar
Alma Dismont joined her husband Saul Dismont as a member of the Bermuda Bar Association yesterday - setting up the possibility of the couple facing each other in the courtroom at some point.Ms Dismont was called to the Bermuda Bar yesterday, concluding her two-year pupillage with Keren Lomas of Lomas and Co which she began on August 15, 2011. Ms Dismont remarked that it had “probably been Bermuda’s longest pupillage in history”, during which she dealt with a difficult pregnancy.She said she was glad to be called to the Bar and pledged to “pick battles that are large enough to matter and small enough to win”.Ms Lomas said of her pupil: “She has balanced professional and personal life exceptionally well and I know that she will continue to do that in the future, She has shown tenacity without pugnacity, and I think that is what you’ll see in the courtroom.“I know that she is going to be a very honourable asset to the law and I welcome her to the profession.”Ms Dismont is the only pupil Ms Lomas has taken on in 40 years of practising law.Ms Dismont completed her legal training at The College of Law, England. During her studies she was awarded the United Kingdom’s ‘College of Law Pro Bono Student of the Year Award’.
