Crewman’s asthma attack forces Spirit’s return

A 20-year-old male crew member on board the Spirit of Bermuda had to be returned to shore after suffering a severe asthma attack while the sail training vessel was at sea.Bermuda Radio stated that the ship was 45 nautical miles south of Bermuda when the crew contacted them about the ill crew member.“Following local medical advice the Spirit of Bermuda made best speed back to the Sea Buoy to rendezvous with the pilot boat St David,” a Bermuda Radio spokesperson said.By 1.15 Wednesday morning, the pilot boat had returned to Ordnance Island and the crew member was transferred to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
