Marshall lifts title at Carib tournament
Bermuda Under-19 squash player Alex Marshall claimed victory in her consolation final at the Caribbean Area Squash Association Championships (CASA) in Kingston, Jamaica at the weekend.Marshall stormed back after losing the first game to beat her Trinidadian opponent 8-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-3.Making her first appearance at the Championships, Olivia Lindsey was defeated by her Trinidadian competitor 9-11, 6-11, 11-7, 13-11, 2-11.Bermuda’s junior squash team arrived in Jamaica last Thursday to compete in the tournament against teams from seven other Caribbean nations.Individual competitions started last Friday with Under-19 Noah Browne, Under-17 D’Vario Thompson and Under-13 Dylan Pratt each competed in the main draw finals for their age groups.Additionally, Under-17 Emma Keane won her consolation semi-final match against a Jamaican opponent at the weekend to earn a spot in the finals.Under-19 Beau Orchard was knocked into the consolation draw after a first round loss.He then managed two wins in the consolation round but fell to an opponent from Trinidad in the semi-finals.Under-15 Tiye Williams had two close losses, playing to five and four games in her first and second matches respectively.Alyssa Brewer, Under-19, and Ryan Hopkins, Under-15, were both beaten in their two matches.The team competition portion of the tournament began yesterday and will continue through Thursday.
