An elderly swimmer died after she got into trouble yesterday.
The victim was in the water off Hawkins Island when she got into trouble shortly about 11am.
It is understood the woman, a 74-year-old cruise ship passenger from Florida, was on a snorkelling excursion on board the boat Restless Native when she began to suffer chest pains.
A marine police boat took her to Barr’s Bay Park in Hamilton before she was rushed to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance, but she was later pronounced dead.
The Bermuda Police Service said the woman would not be named until the next of kin were informed.
