Bermuda Industrial Union leaders are to meet members tonight after earlier talks set up to end a dispute in the bus service, a Government representative said this afternoon.

A spokesman for the Ministry of Transport and Regulatory Affairs said: “After useful discussions, union leaders are expected to meet tonight with members of the Bus Operators & Allied Workers Division.

“DPT management looks forward to hearing from the BIU after the meeting has ended.”

The statement comes after a meeting between DPT and the BIU held yesterday to discuss the work-to-rule and cancellation of bus service on Monday.

The spokesman added: “DPT apologises for the bus service disruption and inconvenience to the public.”

The Government announced 79 bus routes had been cancelled this afternoon and evening.
