Volunteers from HSBC Bermuda have pledged to help “eradicate hunger” in partnership with the Eliza DoLittle Society and the Anglican Cathedral.

The bank launched its second annual volunteering programme from September 2017 through February 2018, according to a statement.

Staff numbering 420 divided into 56 teams to cook and service, as well as giving out items from the society’s food bank, three times a week.

Clesia Pachai, the HSBC community investment manager, said 15,000 meals had been contributed over 1,260 volunteer hours during the six-month stint.

Jennifer Mahoney, the executive director for Eliza DoLittle, commended them as “enthusiastic, empathetic” and willing to go “the extra mile”.

She added: “Everyone exhibited dedication and a genuine willingness to make a positive difference in our community and I never expected them to exceed those already high standards — but they have.”
