Pocket De Gold sent out an ominous warning at the Bermuda CableVision Friday Night Series at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre at the weekend.

Colin Mello’s mare, which presently holds the two-year-old record of 1:03/3 on a 5-16th track in her native Indiana, turned heads after moving up two time bars at Vesey Street.

Pocket De Gold ran a 1:07/1 in heat three to move out of the 1:10/4 — 1:12/4 division, bypass the 1:08/3-1:10/3 time bar and get a leg into the 1:06/1-1:07/1 division.

Mello’s retired stallion, Big Red Machine, holds the track record of 1:01/4 achieved three years ago.

Claiming the most wins on Friday night was Kirista Rabain. The female driver was at her absolute best, reeling off six wins — the most of the night — with multiple ponies to earn herself a healthy share of the prize money on offer.

Andrea Westerfield, another female driver who has been on top of her game lately, posted the night’s fastest time of 1:04 flat with Eddie Roque’s stallion GV Crystal Ball in heat 22 in the Free for All reserved for ponies in the 1:04/4 and faster division.

Westerfield’s time equalled the season best which she shares with Brona’s Mike, driven by Cameron Harris.

Rabain also navigated Simsfield’s Hard Times out of the 1:13 and slower division in heat seven.

Leo Richardson’s colt Tee Time and Captain’s Choice both got a leg out of the time bar in the same heat.

Also advancing from the 1:13 and slower division was IC’s Overextended after returning a 1:11/2 in the night’s second heat with Keira Whited in the sulky.

Rabain also took Mr Indiana out of the 1:07/2-1:08/2 time bar after posting a 1:06/4 in heat 21.

Approved Credit, with Kiwon Waldron at the helm, moved out of the same division after going 1:07 flat while Final Notice, driven by Steven Cordoza, managed to get a leg out. Remaining multiple heat winners included Andy Stoneham, Maurice Raynor, Whited and Mello.

The three fastest drivers on average time in each division receive cash earnings at the Bermuda CableVision Friday Night Series.
