Moth Worlds chance for boat operators
Boat tour operators are being urged to consider spectator packages for the Bacardi Moth World Championship.
The event, the largest sailing race in the Great Sound since the 35th America’s Cup, will feature more than 50 competitors competing on single-sailor foiling boats from Sunday until the following Sunday.
The Bermuda Tourism Authority, one of the event’s sponsors, described it as an opportunity for boat operators.
Pat Phillip-Fairn, chief product and experiences development officer, said: “Visitors expecting to come to Bermuda for the Moth Worlds are already inquiring about spectator options out on the Great Sound.
“We think there’s an economic opportunity here for tour boat operators.”
Racing for the Bacardi Moth World Championship begins on Monday and will run each day until April 1, from 11am to 4pm.
The race schedule includes Easter Sunday, but not Good Friday.
Organisers said demand for spectator viewing is expected to heighten as the event gets nearer to the championship finals.
The Bermuda National Moth Championship will take place on Friday and Saturday, setting up more than a week of sailing competition in the Great Sound.
Licensed tour boat operators interested should contact the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club before 5pm on Thursday.
Operators should make available their preferred dates, boat spectator capacity, size of the boat, name of the boat, pricing and on-board amenities.
