Details have been provided on the type of fitness equipment to be installed at a Devonshire park.

Lieutenant-Colonel David Burch, Minister of Public Works, said a “13-person CrossFit rig” would be installed at the Arboretum.

The status of the equipment was raised by One Bermuda Alliance MP Sylvan Richards during the Budget debate on the Parks Department’s allocation for the financial year.

Colonel Burch said: “This has almost taken as long as it takes to produce a baby and it’s been a painful process.”

Colonel Burch said the equipment allowed for a number of upper and lower-body exercises to be performed by multiple users.

He added: “You can cancel your gym membership.”

Colonel Burch said that equipment to be installed at Warwick Long Bay and Death Valley in Southampton had not yet been selected.

He said that requests had been made that at least one of the locations provided equipment for the disabled.

Colonel Burch added: “We are exploring that option.”
