A team of Dockyard ambassadors is to be signed up to help welcome visitors to the historic site.

The West End Development Corporation is looking for five people to work on “the frontline” at Dockyard.

Joanne Cranfield, Wedco business development manager, said: “Dockyard is one of the most visited places in Bermuda and we felt it was vitally important to ensure that tourists enjoy their stay as much as possible.

“These ambassadors will be on the frontline and will often be people’s first point of contact, so it is a very important position.”

She added: “We want them to be the face of Dockyard, to help our visitors get the best experience possible.”

Ms Cranfield said that the recruits would be enrolled in a two-and-a-half day course at the Bermuda Hospitality Institute.

Ambassador duties will include keeping up to speed on all Wedco and Dockyard attractions, as well as providing information on accommodation, activities, transportation and events.

They will also provide visitors with information on the area’s culture and Bermuda heritage.

The programme was launched last year and Wedco is keen to repeat its success.
