Pembroke Rotary Club has planted a critically endangered yellowwood tree in Queen Elizabeth Park.

The tree is mostly found in the Ship’s Hill area of Harrington Sound and is the first of its kind to be planted in Hamilton.

The club was responding to a call from Ian Riseley, the president of Rotary International, who challenged members around the world to plant a tree before Earth Day on April 22.

It was carried out with the help of parks Superintendent Steven DeSilva and gardeners Ronnie Tacklin and Manuel De Canto.
