Man admits burglaries
Defendants appeared in Supreme Court before Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves yesterday during the monthly arraignments session.
Among the matters was Anthony Webster Swan, 48, of Wilson Place, Sandys, who pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary at a Rubber Tree Lane home, one charge of being equipped for stealing wearing a pair of black gloves and prowling.
He was remanded in custody until sentencing at next month's session. The trial date for Terrence Smith, who is accused of defrauding the Bermuda Housing Corporation, was confirmed for April 6. His bail was extended.
Arnold Shawn Astwood, who admitted killing his 24-year-old girlfriend Ruth Binns during an argument at her Southampton home in September 2007 is to be sentenced on February 27 on manslaughter charges.
He was remanded in custody until his sentencing.
Sherica Davina Trott, 24, of Glebe Road, is charged with importing more than $500,000 worth of cannabis into the Island. A trial date has been set for February 23.
Trott was charged with importing 10,362 grammes of cannabis with a street value of $518,000 last February. She faces a further charge of possession, with intent to supply.
She was remanded in custody until her trial.
