Willis Towers Watson’s charity committee and its employees have made donations to ten local charities totaling $10,000.

In addition, employees took up a personal monetary collection that resulted in $700 of food and goods for the Women’s Resource Centre, and contributing gently used business attire to the “Dress for Success” initiative.

Wendy Percy, office manager in Bermuda, said the charities committee has become an important core value in our office and staff were continually coming up with ideas to pay it forward.

During the past year, the Bermuda office focused on the needs of children, health, family and education. Ten employees became Scars certified and have collaborated with Port Royal Primary School to offer assistance. This included our volunteers painting one of the bus stops in front of the school with a nautical theme in time for America’s Cup and plans for the second bus stop are now under way as well as a volunteer student reading programme.

Paul Scope, chairman, said he was proud of his team as volunteering has become an integral, positive layer of the philosophy at Willis Towers Watson.

The ten charities to receive donations included the Salvation Army, Coalition for the Protection of Children, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Bermuda, Action on Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Pride Bermuda, BSMART Development Foundation, Adult Education Centre and Family Centre.
