Anti-graffiti product gets seal of approval from Filter Queen boss

Multi-purpose: Filter Queen Bermuda owner Raynard Smith shows off his new product.

Troublesome graffiti could soon become a thing of the past thanks to a new sealant product launched by Filter Queen Bermuda.

Miracle Cover, which comes in three forms, regular, marine and graffiti guard, can be used on everything from houses to boats and even cars.

It works either by being directly applied onto surfaces or by being mixed with paint, varnish or resins before application, making it impervious to graffiti and mildew and helping it to last three times longer, it is claimed.

Another advantage of the sealant is that it is non-toxic and the graffiti can be removed easily without splitting or fading the paint, while it is non-flammable and guaranteed for 20 years and the marine type for five years as well. The silicon rubber content of the product enables it to be resistant and to be mixed with water or oil-based paints.

Entrepreneur Raynard Smith, of Filter Queen Bermuda, which has exclusive rights to marketing and selling the Miracle Cover on the Island, said the product has been proven to have successful results.

"The Miracle Cover is a product that has been tested in real time applications for 40 years and it has shown no deterioration at all to the sun, UV and salt - it just does not break down," he said.

"Most products are petroleum-based, so they degrade, but this does not degrade.

"This is a product that is quite unique in that it can be placed on metal to prevent rust, on wood to stop termites, on fibreglass, PVC, leather, plastics, fabric, carpet, and upholstery, where it is water and stain proof.

"It will seal buildings from mould and it is also unique in that it will stop grout from getting mildew and mouldy and asphalt from deteriorating.

"In fact, there is nothing it cannot go on, except glass." Mr. Smith first came across Miracle Cover when he was looking for a sealer product that protects against oil stains to complement the company's muronic acid replacement, Safe Etch, in San Diego in June last year and the product has been distributed by Filter Queen since September 2007.

Applications include in nurseries where children draw on the walls, on curtains to prevent staining and fading from the sun and UV rays, on air conditioning units, cars and boats to stop rusting, and kayaks, inflatables and tents. Equally it can be used on pavements where it is impervious to soot, mildew, grease, food and even bubble or chewing gum sticking, on stepping stones to prevent slime, and, in addition, should come in useful for developers, architects, designers and construction workers alike for new builds.

It has already been successfully implemented in a couple of bus stops on the Island, on the roof of one and the floor of another, while Filter Queen has put on a number of demonstrations for the Corporation of Hamilton to show them how it works, according to Mr. Smith.

"Painters have been using it and it eliminates the need to use a primer coat," he said.

"When mixed with mortar it makes buildings impervious to moisture absorption to keep dampness out of the house and areas where bubbles under the paint would appear are no longer a concern.

"It has been used to maintain the beauty of Bermuda stone to prevent it getting mildew and to protect asphalt from degrading and cracking and being stained by oil.

"There is no product that will assist to reduce maintenance expenses as much as Miracle Cover.

"People say that if things sound too good to be true they are, but the reality of it is that if it sounds too good it should be investigated and that is what has been done - it is approved for water holding tanks in the US, so it is completely safe around drinking water."

Regular Miracle Cover sells at $70 per gallon, the marine version retails at $165 per gallon and the graffiti guard costs $245 per gallon. For more information contact 292-9232.
