Butterfield Bank shares fell 50 cents, or 1.3 per cent, to $39.50 after 6,636 traded on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index.

Additionally, a total of 95 shares of Ascendant Group were exchanged, but with no impact on the stock’s closing price.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index was down 22.49 points, or 0.97 per cent, at 2,290.8.

On the New York Stock Exchange, shares of Butterfield Bank were down 23 cents, or 0.57 per cent, at $40.06.

The BSX Insurance Index was up 52.04, or 2.84 per cent, at 1,886.17.
