A controlled burn is this morning taking place on Marshall’s Island in the Great Sound.

Police confirmed the intentional fire after receiving calls from concerned citizens.

A police spokesman said the burn was expected to finish at noon.

He added: “We appreciate the concern of those who called regarding this matter.”
