Bermuda Marathon Weekend to close streets

Motorists are being reminded of a number of road closures and parking restrictions that will be place this weekend.

A number of separate events will be held as part of Bermuda Marathon Weekend which runs from Friday, January 12, to Sunday, January 14.

The 2018 KPMG Front Street Mile race on Friday will force all westbound traffic off Crow Lane up Spurling Hill and along Reid Street from 6pm to 10pm.

• Front Street, from Par-la-Ville Road to the foot of Spurling Hill, will be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6pm until 11pm.

• Burnaby Street, Parliament Street, Court Street and King Street — between Reid and Front streets — will be also be closed to all vehicular traffic from 6pm until 11pm.

The following parking restrictions will also be in place:

• Front Street between Par-la-Ville Road and the foot of Spurling Hill from 4pm until 11pm.

• Burnaby Street between Reid and Front streets from 4pm until 11pm.

• No. 1 Car Park — No parking after 2pm. Gates will be locked at 5pm until 11pm.

• No. 5 Car Park — No parking after 2pm and no access from 5pm until 11pm.

Patrons of businesses along Front Street East are reminded that all vehicles must be removed from that section of Front Street by 5pm.

The 2018 Bermuda 10K run and walk event on Saturday will close the following sections of roads:

• Parsons Road, between Roberts Avenue and Montpelier Road, from 8:45am until 10:15am.

• Montpelier Road, between Parsons Road and Middle Road, from 8:45am until 10:15am.

• Frog Lane, between Palmetto and Parsons roads, from 8:45am until 11am.

• Old Military Road, between Parsons and Frog lanes, from 8:45am until 11am, except for access to Cedar Park Estate.

• Middle Road, between Corkscrew Hill and Flatts (near Harrington Sound Road junction), from 8:45am until 10:15am.

• North Shore Road, between Middle Road in Flatts to the Barkers Hill roundabout, from 9am until 11am in a westbound direction.

• Gymnasium Road, between Frog Lane and Headquarters Hill, from 8:45am until 11:30am.

The following parking restrictions will also be in place from 8am until 11am:

• Parsons Road, from Roberts Avenue to Montpelier Road.

• Frog Lane, from Palmetto Road to Parsons Road.

• Montpelier Road, from Parsons Road to Middle Road.

• Gymnasium Road, from Frog Lane to Fort Hill Road.

• Flatts Village, from North Shore Road (St. James Court) to the Middle Road junction.

• Fort Hill Road, from Alexandra Road to Gymnasium Road.

The 2018 Bermuda Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday will also impact traffic.

A police spokesman said: “Motorists entering the City of Hamilton from Pitts Bay Road are advised to divert up Woodbourne Avenue, travel down Gorham Road, left on Bermudiana Road, and right onto Church Street, in order to gain access to city churches and other locations.

“Likewise, motorists entering the city from Crow Lane are advised to divert north on Court Street.”

The event will close the follow sections of roads:

• Crow Lane, between Spurling Hill and the City of Hamilton’s eastern boundary on Front Street, from 7:30am until 8:30am.

• Corkscrew Hill, between Middle Road and Crow Lane, from 7:30am until 8:30am.

• Trimingham Road, between north round-a-bout and south round-a-bout (in a southerly direction), from 8am until 9am.

• Front Street, between Bermudiana Road and Court Street, from 7am until 4pm.

• Bermudiana Road, between Front Street and Gorham Road, from 7am until 4pm.

• Par-la-Ville Road, between Church and Front streets, from 7am until 4pm.

• Burnaby Street, between Reid and Front streets, from 7am until 4pm.

The following parking restrictions will also be in place:

• Front Street, between Bermudiana Road and Court Street on both sides of the road, from 4am until 4pm.

• Bermudiana Road, between Front Street and Gorham Road on the both sides of the road, from 4am until 4pm.

• Rosebank Road, between Par-la-Ville and Bermudiana Roads on the both sides of the road, from 4am until 4pm.

• Par-la-Ville Road, between Church and Front streets on the both sides of the road, from 4am until 4pm.
