More than 20 local football coaches have completed a UEFA ‘C’ Licence equivalence course conducted by top French coach Jacques Crevoisier.Run in partnership with the ABC Football School, the course began last May and placed emphasis on a wide variety of topics ranging from coaching education to football knowledge.The 40-hour long course was divided into practical and theoretical aspects. The theoretical aspect included coaching programmes for each age category, coaching education and development, coaching competence and keys to team success.The practical aspect of the course focused on the fundamentals of the sport such as control, passing and dribbling.Last week Crevoisier, a former Liverpool assistant coach, visited the Island to hold a second ‘C’ Licence course as well as award certificates to the first batch who completed their diplomas.Held at CedarBridge Academy, the ceremony was attended by ABC School director Henrik Schroder and Bermuda Football Association player development committee chairman Mark Wade.Crevoisier, who hopes those coaches involved in the programme will progress to the ‘B’ Licence, said: “For the first time on the Island there is a training session for coaches where they can gain a diploma. To have better players, you need better coaches. It is the only way to be better at the international level and to improve the level of football in Bermuda.
